This week it was revealed that former British Ambassador to the United States Kim Darroch, 66, had been investigated into an alleged affair with Kosinski, 46, who was at the journalist time for CNN.

Suspicions were raised among U.S. officials after a series of articles by Kosinski detailed highly sensitive insider information about the Trump administration.

A Justice Department investigation later cleared Darroch of his wrongdoing and he denied leaking any stories to the reporter.

But this isn’t the first time Kosinski has gotten into hot water after his reporting.

File footage from the NBC Today Show reveals the laudable moment when the enthusiastic reporter appeared to try – and fail – to mislead viewers about the extent of the flooding that hit parts of the East Coast.

The incident, which would later be dubbed “Canoe-gate”, took place on October 14, 2005 when the new NBC News correspondent reported live on the flooding in Wayne, New Jersey.

It shows Kosinski canoeing through the flood waters telling viewers how ‘deep’ she is before she gets scolded when two men casually wander ankle-deep in the water.

The segment begins with anchors Matt Lauer and Katie Couric going live to Kosinski who is sitting in a canoe paddling through flood waters on a submerged suburban thoroughfare.

“Hello, so obviously we have a nice break from the rain but not from the floods,” Kosinski begins.

Her dramatic segment is quickly interrupted by two men in waders walking through the water just in front of her boat.

The water is up to men’s ankles.

The correspondent continues to row on the water as if nothing had happened, describing how “really difficult” it is in a canoe or boat.

“It’s basically now part of the Passaic River in this neighborhood. He rushed through the streams yesterday and it’s really hard to control a canoe or a boat when you’re there – it’s a lot deeper there, ”she says.

Studio hosts step in to ask Kosinski about the water level.

“ In fact, Michelle is there, kind of a big fall between the ground. If we go back, we saw these guys walking a few seconds ago, ”Lauer asks, while Couric laughs.

“Are these holy men walking on water? Lauer continues as the series reenacts the moment Kosinski was arrested.

Kosinski tries to shed some light on the sticky situation: “Why walk when you can row guys?

“When you take a trick like this, why would you want to walk?”

Lauer continues to laugh at her, asking her, “Have you ever run ashore?”

She replies, “ They didn’t let me go back to the deep water because they were afraid that I would drift. ”

“It’s a weird piece of the Michelle video,” Lauer continued before Couric joined him.

“Is your oar touching the ground Michelle?” she asks.

“Of course not,” Kosinski replies.

The embarrassing blunder was picked up by other media outlets and quickly made the rounds on Fox’s Tucker Carlson and Don Imus radio shows.

U.S. officials believed Michelle Kosinski, pictured left with her British husband Kimbell Duncan at the 2015 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, had been briefed by Lord Darroch on highly sensitive information from the Trump administration.

Fifteen years later, Kosinski found herself in a cove without a paddle once again as allegations of an affair with Darroch and pointed questions about how she obtained sensitive information from the White House surfaced this week. .

Lord Darroch was allegedly suspected of having informed Kosinski of several secrets of the Trump administration, including plans to make CIA Director Mike Pompeo Secretary of State, which later happened.

Kosinski also reportedly learned of Pompeo’s plans for a trip to North Korea to lobby for the return of three US citizens.

No story has been reported but the White House became more interested in Kosinski after this period.

She also raised eyebrows when she learned about U.S. plans for severe sanctions against Russia.

The classified proposals were reportedly discussed privately with allies in France, Germany and the UK before being announced on April 6.

A source told Sun Kosinski “ was aware of these sanctions before they were announced. ”

She also raised concerns after learning of a closed-door feud between Donald Trump and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

The Sun said he had seen “ intimate ” messages between the two detailing their plans to meet. Their affair reportedly began in early 2018.

U.S. officials have probed the alleged relationship in detail, fearing it may open Darroch to blackmail from hostile states.

Darroch has been married for 42 years and has two grown children while Kosinski is also married with two children.

Kosinski responded to the allegations in a social media post where she blamed the leaks within Trump's own circle for his scoop series.

Kosinski responded to the allegations in a social media post where she blamed the leaks within Trump’s own circle for his scoop series.

Darroch quit his post in Washington in July of last year after cable leaks revealed he called Trump incompetent.

Darroch also claimed the president “ radiates insecurity ”, telling British officials they must “ start congratulating him on something he has done ” when they meet him.

Kosinski quit his job at CNN five months later, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Darroch vehemently denied any impropriety and any suggestion that he leaked the stories to Kosinski.

Kosinski hit back at the allegations in a social media post where she blamed the leaks in Trump’s own circle for his scoop series.

“There is a lot of fake and just plain fake in what is being reported,” she wrote on Twitter.

A so-called leak investigation did not reveal any such leak. Which means for all of these stories listed that the “sensitive” information did not come from the former ambassador.

“Looks like I got some good sources and did my job.

She added, “ Pompeo’s information (all came from) Trump’s own orbit. Everytime.
